Project Goals
Create a branding ecosystem and digital assets for the 2021 Friendtorship website

Over the course of a term my team was tasked with the branding and buildout of the Strange Bands for Strange Times website. My role was that of art director, creating brand guidelines and assets for the Friendtorship support team. I was also in charge of client communication so that our work continued to align with the goals of our client.

Project Overview
Strange Bands for Strange Times is a website showcasing the hard work of the Fall 2022 Friendtorship cohort.

Friendtorship is a program facilitated by PSU Art and Design Director Lis Charman It was created to promote creative mentorship between PSU students and middle school aged children. Over the course of a quarter, these children work with PSU students to nurture their creativity through explorations in art and design.

Process
After presenting three different visual directions to client, my direction was chosen.

For the layout of the website, we went with a cargo collective template that allowed for a background with overlapping elements. The visual concept is that of a wall in a concert venue covered in band stickers. To navigate to a band’s page, you could click on a sticker and it would take you the band’s subpage.

Once we locked down a visual direction and user flow, the students came up with their own logos and rockstar personas to populate the webpage.

Final Assets
After some final tweaks, we landed on a ciruclar logo for t-shirts and webpage navigation and a horizontal banner for the main website background as our main assets.
