Branding, Socials, Gallery Vinyls
Over the course of four weeks my team assisted in helping the Video Art Installation class pick a title and theme for their final project as well as created promotional materials and gallery vinyl’s.
Official wordmark for the show.
Project Overview
Video Art Installation is a class led by artist and PSU Art and Design Instructor Julie Perini. Using analog film technology, the students create over the course of a term their own experimental artworks. This culminates in a pop up art show at the end of the quarter lasting only a week.
Julie Perini reached out to A+D Projects to design the promotional materials for this show as well as help the class come up with a title and unifying concept for their upcoming showcase.
Process
Preview of discussion template.
My roles on the Video Installation Team were that of a design researcher and project manager. I created generative materials to facilitate discussion and exploration around overlapping themes in the students work. We met with the class over zoom and I shared a google slides link to a presentation I made with opening questions on content and then held an open ended discussion. This resulted in a title for the showcase: Channel 2022.
After presenting three separate pitch directions to the artists, Direction number One was chosen (shown below), and our team began production.
Outcomes
As a group we used the scanner painting technique to create distorted versions of a wordmark. These were used to create the official logo, meant for use in gallery vinyl and in promotional materials for the show.
